Our Story

The mission of Phi Kappa Tau is to champion a lifelong commitment to brotherhood, learning, ethical leadership and exemplary character.

In the Fall of 2018 our National organization reestablished the Beta Theta chapter at KU.  Since then the members have embraced the challenge of growing the brotherhood from scratch to the chapter it is today.  This could not have been possible without the support of the National organization and several key Graduate Council (GC) alumni who volunteer their time.

Hundreds of alumni make up the Graduate Council at the University of Kansas.  The purpose of the GC is to promote the mission of Phi Kappa Tau among graduated members and support the Resident Council in Lawrence.  A proud tradition dating back to the chapters installation at KU in 1954.

Donate Today

Your contribution matters! If you have less than $500/yr to donate, please support our Graduate Council directly.  This supports a wide variety of events including homecoming, chapter brotherhood dinners and chapter workshops.

For donations over $500/yr, kindly donate to the Kansas Chapter Giving account with our National Foundation. Your support funds academic scholarships and enables chapter officers & chairmen to attend regional and national leadership conferences, thus lowering the cost of membership!

Larry Washburn
“I really enjoyed my time as graduate council president. Working with other alumni during the Covid years to keep the brotherhood spirit going was a challenge but rewarding at the same time. We had some great homecoming years and it was rewarding to be on the hill and to see all who came back! The undergraduate’s enthusiasm was and is contagious and I look forward to seeing what happens!”
